Oh! I Love Microsoft Sales Support :P

Well I compared the available cloud storage solutions going around and surprisingly I found that Microsoft OneDrive is the optimal solution for someone like me who’s looking for a storage around 200GB to 500GB.

  • If you take google drive you have 100GB for 1.99 USD and then the 1TB for 9.99 USD (I couldn’t find an AUD option so I’m still using the USD priced verion)
  • OneDrive has 100GB for 2 AUD and 200GB for 4 AUD and the 9 AUD gives 1TB and includes office 365 for free which sounds like the best bargain for me.
  • Dropbox has 1TB for 12.99 AUD

All of them have similar features for a regular user like me and I selected so for me OneDrive looks promising well after the comparison I waned to purchase and when I search for the Microsoft Australia pricing and click purchase I was send to a payment page where the country was selected as USA and I can’t change that. Later after googling I found a link which showed country wise links which had the correct links. I didn’t go ahead with the purchase initially as I wanted to select a plan and then came later to purchase. I forgot where I found the link and a popup came with a Tech Support gentleman and it was an utter waste of money where I ended up searching again and training them about their product.

Customer care gods never are happy with me so I get the chance to share these stories with you.

Update: now they seems to have fixed the flow in their system 🙂 happy that I could be of service to Microsoft

Fight for Fair FUP (SLT ADSL)

” My petition on Change.Org is 975 Supporters and counting… Appreciate more from you 🙂 ”

Last December I wrote a post which I tried to make a point against the unfair FUP (Fair Usage Policy) and practices by SLT (Sri Lanka Telecom).

Many have supported me and I am really thankful for each and everyone who supported this cause…

Let’s raise our voice for a better quality of service for a better tomorrow…

Make a wish for a speedy recovery!

Update: They recovered so well and are living their day-to-day lives but with the grief of losing their loved ones.

This is a picture of Dushan and his mother Shermi who are my neighbours. They are fighting for their lives in ICU at this moment after a tragic accident which happened in Mahawa, Sri Lanka on the 2nd of August. This accident has already taken away Dushan’s Father and Grand Mother.

Irrespective of what religion we belong to our thoughts put together has an energy which can do wonders. I’m writing to ask you to take one minute of your valuable time and hope, wish and pray for a speedy recovery of Dushan and Shermi

Happy New Year

This is a quick and brief post for the new year auspicious time (“nekatha”.)

Wishing everyone a brilliant new year ahead and don’t forget to enable timeline review on Facebook. Otherwise you will end up with so many awrudu pictures tagged with you on the FB wall which u really don’t prefer to be be in 😀

Now to eat some kiribath…….

Enjoy but preserve Sri Lanka

Recently I visited “Dalada Maligawa” or the temple of tooth which is one of the most sacred and pictures locations in Sri Lanka.

Of course this is a regular place we Sri Lankans visit. But for many foreigners who come here this is a location to take pictures and keep as this will most likely be their few visits to the location.

I noticed that many were flashing at the ancient paintings and I brought it to the attention of one of the tourist groups and more than them the local guide got annoyed and wanted to argue with me. But being at such a sacred place I didn’t want to let my anger lose and never spoke a word.

But now I want to tell the entire world….. Take pictures but leave it for the future also.

So just turn off the flash and use your camera. Today’s DSLRs and standard cameras can operate with no flash. Also the fact that every monkey with a DSLR are consider them as pro photographer has contributed to this.

Stupid tourist guides just do anything for money and don’t think of the sustainability. They will not have anything to show to the tourists if they behave like this. Also if you are visiting Sri Lanka please keep this in mind.

I’m really amazed why non of the responsible authority or the government has taken any steps to prevent such activities. At least to educate the tourist guides….
